 Who can join?

The DREAM study may be suitable for you if:

You have sciatica pain

which is moderate to severe

Your pain started more than 12 weeks ago

You live in Australia

 What to expect

Joining the study is voluntary - it's up to you whether you choose to participate. ​

You will be reviewed by a study doctor to determine if the study is suitable for you.

If the study is right for you and you would like to participate you will be asked to read some information and sign a consent form

You will be prescribed the study medication and asked to take it for 14 weeks

You will be asked to provide two samples of your blood

The study team will monitor your progress. You will be asked to keep a daily score of your pain and to complete an online survey about 6 times over the course of one year.

  • Does it cost to participate?
    There is no cost to participate in the study and study medication is provided free of charge.
  • Can I withdraw from the study once I've started?
    Yes, you are free to withdraw from the study at any time.
  • The study is placebo controlled - what does that mean?
    You will have a 50% chance of receiving active mediciine, and a 50% chance of receiving a placebo (no active treatment). You will not be able to choose your treatment group. The study is conducted this way to ensure that the information obtained is reliable and unbiased.
  • Is travel required to join the study?
    No - you can join the study via telehealth.
  • What if I don't live in Sydney?
    Eligible participants can join the study from all over Australia
